Please read these Workshop Terms and conditions carefully before you book a Workshop as these will apply to your booking transaction and participation in a Workshop class. By making a booking or attending a workshop you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, so please read them carefully.
Our general business Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy these are also available on our website. These Terms & Conditions may be reviewed periodically so you are encouraged to check these again before your Workshop.
1. Definitions
In this document “TLJ”, “our”, “us”and “we” means Tara Lois Mansell trading as Tara Lois Jewellery of Moonstone, Sqaq il-Fgura, Ghrab, Malta, while “you”, “your” and “participant” means the person or people booking and attending a Workshop. A “Workshop” is a class offered in jewellery making by TLJ. A “Scheduled Workshop” is a one-off class on a particular subject that is open to general bookings on named days and times through the bookings page on the website. A “Private Workshop” refers to workshops which are organised for a specific group of people on a day and time at your request. “Website” refers to www.TaraLoisJewellery.com.
2. Design, Copyrights and Photographs
Design and copyrights to all images and content on the TLJ website, social media and printed materials are owned by Tara Mansell. You give your permission for any photographs taken of you, or the group you book, at the Workshop to be used for publicity purposes.
3. Accessibility and Suitability
The Workshops are held in a private villa which is fully wheelchair accessible. The Workshops have been designed for adults, although you are welcome to book for someone over the age 14 but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
4. Booking, Making Changes and Cancellation
All prices quoted are in euros and inclusive of VAT, where applicable. Payment via a third party may show the equivalent in a different currency. Gift Vouchers can be bought from our website booking page and can only be used to pay for Workshops or Products on the TLJ website. Any difference between the voucher value and the price of a Workshop is payable when booking. Gift Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash. The website Workshop booking pages allow you to book up to 4 people onto a Scheduled Workshop. Dates are typically available up to 3 months ahead. These are payable in full at the time of booking to reserve your place(s). At the time of booking you will be asked if you have any allergies or medical conditions which may put you at additional risk during the Workshop. f you are booking for several people, you are responsible to reporting this information for all participants. If there is not a minimum of 2 people booked on a Scheduled Workshop 72 hours before the date, then we reserve the right to cancel the Workshop. You will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to reschedule to a different day. Private Workshops are by appointment only. Where the booking is for groups of 5-6 people you can reserve the date and time agreed by paying 50% of the total Workshop cost. The second 50% payment has to be made between 2 weeks from the date of the Workshop and the date you made the reservation. Failure to pay the full amount in time will result in the Private Workshop being cancelled. If a Private Workshop is booked less than 2 weeks before the workshop date and time then full payment is required at the time of booking. Workshops can only be cancelled for a full refund prior to 28 days before the date of the Workshop. You can cancel between 28 days and 72 hours before the workshop start time for a 50% refund of the total cost of the workshop (not the amount paid). There will be no refund if you cancel less than 72 hours before a Workshop. Changes to the date and time of Private Workshops are at the discretion of TLJ so please give us plenty of notice if you would like to reschedule because if we cannot accommodate your wishes, then your request may lead to a cancellation and lost payment. All Workshop places which have been paid for in full are transferable to another person free of charge, provided you contact us and they complete a TLJ Workshop registration form more than 72 hours prior to your Workshop. Without this documentation being received in time they will be denied access to the Workshop. TLJ will try to help you catch up on the Workshop if you arrive late, but we stress that you are punctual because classes only last 4 hours from the stating time. This will not be extended for late arrivals. TLJ will make every effort not to cancel a Workshop unless there is only 1 booking for a Scheduled Workshop as indicated above. However we do reserve the right for a team member other than Tara Mansell to run the Workshop if she is unable to supervise in person. Workshops may have to be cancelled or last longer for various reasons, which include but are not limited to power cuts. In the unlikely event that we do need to cancel, you will be offered a full refund or an opportunity to reschedule on the original terms.
5. What is Included / Excluded Incurring and Additional Payment / Optional in Workshops
Your payment for a Workshop includes:
· Aprons and safety goggles
· Design assistance and tutoring.
· The use of Tools such as pliers, piercing saws, metal stamps and files are included, although some may need to be shared with other participants.
· Consumable materials used in the making process including up to 3 saw blades, silver solder, flux, polishing compound, safety pickle and gas for torches are included.
· Up to 5 grams of recycled 925 silver. For the Scheduled Ring Making Workshop we supply 3mm wide ribbon.
· Barrel polishing.
· The Private Wax Sculpting and Sand Casting Workshop also includes jeweller’s wax and casting sand.
Excluded from your Workshop Payment are:
· Preparation and supply of gold.
· More than 5 grams of 925 silver.
· Silver ribbon wider than 3mm for larger rings. Gold and wider silver ribbon will have to be prepared exclusively for you before your workshop. We will ask you to pay an additional non-refundable amount prior to your arrival to cover some of this preparation time. Your jewellery will be weighed before you begin filing and polishing. This is the weight of metal you will be charged before you are free to leave with the jewellery. During the Private Wax Sculpting and Sand Casting Workshop we exclude without exception alloying metal in the furnace, pouring molten metal into the sand casting mould and cutting off large waste. Optional activities are usually undertaken by TLJ but you can choose to do these tasks on the clear understanding that you are taking responsibility for the risks.
· Soldering risks melting your jewellery at a late stage in the Workshop meaning it is unlikely you will leave with a finished piece.
· Soldering is done with a powerful torch and the heat and flame can pose dangers.
· Polishing cast jewellery which is exceedingly messy and may result in long term damage to your clothes. It will certainly need you to shower before leaving.
· Hallmarking. TLM has the right to hallmark work produced in her workshop. The small stamps need to be carefully positioned to be legally recognised as silver or gold, so we prefer to do this ourselves. If you stamp your work and the stamp is not clear you will not be able to prove it is a precious metal.
6. Arriving, Safety & Conduct and Liability
As previously stated, please arrive on time for your Workshop which will start at the time previously agreed. We cannot extend the workshop time to make up for late arrivals. Your clothes will probably get dirty, perhaps even be damaged, so please don’t wear your favourite clothes. If you need reading glasses then please bring them. Jewellery making needs good close up vision. If you have long hair then please bring something to tie it back. We recommend you wear closed toe shoes, especially if you are taking part in a Wax Sculpting and Sand Casting Workshop. TLJ provides a safe and well equipped environment for Workshops. Health & Safety guidelines will be explained to you which will include the safe use of tools, heat and any chemicals, and TLJ will expect you to follow these so that you can work safely. You are responsible for your own safety and we accept no liability for any injury or damage which occurs whilst present at our premises. TLJ reserves the right to ask participants to leave the premises if we believe that you are a danger to yourself or to others or fail to follow safety guidelines. If we suspect that you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol then you will not be allowed to participate and you will also be asked to leave. We may also ask you to leave if you are disruptive or disrespectful, rude, abusive, aggressive or discriminate against any of the TLJ team or other participants. If you are asked to leave for any of the above reasons, your Workshop payment is non-refundable. If TLJ has been negligent and/or breached a contractual obligation we will only be liable for any loss or damage you suffer as a result provided that loss and/or damage is foreseeable. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is an obvious consequence of our negligence or breach of contract, or would have been considered by you and by us to be a likely consequence of it at the time we entered into a contract for you to participate in a Workshop. We do not accept any liability for the following types of loss, whether caused by breach of contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, even if the loss is foreseeable: loss of income or revenue; loss of business; loss of profits; loss of anticipated earnings; loss of data, or waste of management or office time. We exclude our liability for death, personal injury and property damage arising in any way to the extent we can under the law.
7. Liability Waiver
At the start of all Workshops participants will be asked to sign the following Liability Waiver confirming that they accept full responsibility for any damages, injuries and harm to physical and/or personal property which might arise during a TLJ Workshop as TLJ does not cover liability insurance.
8. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malta.
